Alpha Channel - A greyscale channel for storing selections and masks that can be reloaded into an image

Antialias - Blending of colors along an edge of an image to eliminate jaggies, most commonly used with text

Aspect Ratio - A ratio of width to height

Bevel - A 3-dimensional edge on an image

Bezier Curve - A curve with anchor points that can be reshaped

Blend - The combination of two layers or areas of an image

Burn - A darkening blend mode

Canvas - The working area of an image is displayed

Channel - Greyscale images have one channel, RGB has three and CMYK has four

CMYK - Cyan/Magenta/Yellow/Black - the four standard colors used in printing

Color Depth - The number of bits available per pixel. 8-bit has 256 colors, 16-bit 65,356 and 24-bit over 16.7 million colors

Color Palette - A selection area of colors available including background and foreground color

Color Wheel - A color spectrum to pick and create custom colors

Defloat - To merge a floating selection into a layer. After a selection is defloated, editing commands affects the entire image or layer

Defringe - To clean the edges of a selection by removing pixels of the background

DPI - Stands for Dots Per Inch. A unit used to measure the resolution of a printer. The more dots per inch the sharper an image will apppear.

VCF Cards are virtual business cards that contain  information in them like your name, address, telephone number, email address & web site address.

To disable VCF Cards in Outlook Express:

With Outlook Express Open > Select  > Tools > Options > Compose
Make sure that the the "mail" portion of business cards is not checked.

To disable VCF Cards in Netscape :

With Netscape Open > Select > Edit > Preferences

Click on the + sign in front of "mail and newsgroups
Click on "Identity"
At the bottom of that box you "uncheck" the box that says "attach my personal card to message (as Vcard) then click "OK"
